    Need help with tarp selection...

So...my youngest (Weasel) has been considering a tarp upgrade. He's currently sleeping in a HH Expedition Asym...has the standard HH tarp.

He's looking for the best quality, 3 season tarp he can get for $125 or under (before shipping).

His criteria in order of preference are:

    1. Max coverage/weather protection.
    2. Minimum weight.
    3. Cost.

Bottom line is that he's looking for a hex/rectangular/cat cut in his price range with the best 3 season protection he can get...the lighter weight, the better.

We've been doing a bit of research and reading, but would love to get some informed opinions on what his best buy would be in this price range.

    Suggestions?

a quick endorsement for Wilderness Logics tarps. http://wildernesslogics.com/Tarps-Accessories_c9.htm

I have the Tadpole, which is pretty small but I love it. The Bid Daddy may be better for three season. They are very high quality and their prices are good.

If Weasel can save $5 more dollars by brown bagging lunch, then he can get a Warbonnet SuperFly for $130 and it will give you all 3 of his criteria.

The JRB 11x10 cat cut tarp is currently on sale for $120.

There are many quality tarp options from any of the cottage gear makers here. Pick one, they're all well made.

    Cheers

    I'm a huge fan of the JRB 11 x 10 cat tarp.

I've been under it in several intense storms and never got wet and was never worried about getting wet.

All the tarps spoken of to my knowledge are great options. For full coverage I got the warbonnet superfly, at the time it was $130, I think its $150 now(but worth it) it comes with doors and panel pullouts which I love. I've seen the jrb 11x10 and that thing is nice! Talk about a ton of pitching options. I wish I had the extra money and I'd take pgibson up on the $80 alpine. That tarp seems really cool. Coverage where you need it.

My next tarp will probably be a rectangle. 11x8 should be plenty room, though I may go 10.5x7. You can always fold in the corners like doors for full coverage. Not as spacey as the superfly but its right in between the superfly and maccat standard I have for better stormy 3 season coverage where I don't absolutely need the doors coverage

i have the warbonnet big mamajamba with panel pulls, and i don't know how he could go wrong with it, tons of coverages 11' ridgeline and 10' wide, with panel pulls its only 13.5 oz's (mine was actually only 13.2 oz's) and all for $110.00 bucks, and with shipping, is within his total budge

plus you've ordered from a cottage gear maker who stands behind his work and products 100% and is a great member on HF's who shares whatever knowledge he has whenever asked, imo you can't go wrong
