Going on my first overnighter in my new HH

Riding my KLR to Southeast OH tomorrow for an overnighter at Iron Ridge near Lake Vesuvius. Will be meeting up with a group of other riders in WV on Sat and wanted to give myself a little more time in the area. Couldn't think of better time to try out all of this new fun stuff!

Looks like rain is a good bet, so I'm preparing for the possibility that I'll be setting up in less than ideal conditions.

Due to my hectic work schedule I haven't had much time to practice setup so I'll sorta be wingin' it, but anyone that knows me will tell you that's about right.

I will let you know how it goes and try to remember to take lots of pics.

I am using a HHED with zipper mod 3, Hex fly, a Ridgerest pad, camp pillow, Eureka sleeping bag, all crammed into a Cabela's Dry bag strapped to my beloved 2002 KLR650 "The Toad".

I am very excited about this!

Good luck on the first hang. If you'll be using the classic Hennessy figure 8 knot be sure to practice it at home first. It's a simple concept but easy to get confused as well.

I have an Explorer Deluxe in my quiver of hammocks and like it a lot. Hope you do too.

Have a good time. My first time was a solo in a Hennesy. Never forget it. Slept 13 hours total.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

Practice that Hennessy knot, and when you get back, shoot me a message and I can show you a quick hang way that doesn't modify the stock lines (Prussik and Biner) still got pics in my gallery I think. I'm in Cincy as well and we are heading down to Big south fork this weekend for some swimming....I mean hiking. Going to be nothing but wet all weekend for the whole region.

Quiver of hammocks, I like that!

You've got a great hammock and tarp for foul weather. I'm thinking you'll have an awesome nights sleep. Can't wait to hear the trip report and see the pics!

I love to hang in the rain. I have a 99 KLR and love it like a part of the family. Have camped with it many times! I think there are some pics in my gallery.

    Have fun.

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

Ahhh.....I remember my first night in a HH.

It was so long ago that the colors were blue hammock with yellow fly!

ANd I froze my butt off at Watoga SP in the WV Highlands! Of course, I didn't have a pad in the HH with me. You should be comfy and toasty.
