That is SOOO NOT LAME!!! Give him the WBBB anyway and he can let his pals sleep in it when they go camping. He'll probably let them know that the hammock he is sleeping in is just a little better than one he is lending them, but that's because it is "built to spec" for him!
PS I took my boy up to Quetico last summer jusy before he turned 13! I got a pretty good idea how you feel.
