    If you're concerned about weight, there are many ways to get ultra-lightweight in a hammock. To get started, check out this thread. It leaves out stakes, but as you can see, one can get a base hammock weight w/o insulation to 1.5 lbs or less. Probably lighter then your tarptent. Welcome to the forum.

    Howdy! Welcome to the wonderful world of hammock camping and HF.

    For me, the trade off of a MUCH better night's sleep is worth a smidge more weight. And, as others have said, you can totally streamline to get your base weight down.
