    Zing-it for lashing?

Can zing-it be used to lash a gathered end hammock (use it in the end channel to gather the ends) or is it so small in diameter that abrasion could become an issue?

I use regular mason's line for my gathered end lashing, and have never had an abrasion problem. Once the knot is set on the end, and your suspension attached, there's essentially no motion at all to create any rubbing or abrasion.

    That's my 2cents!

I use braided mason twine as well for gathering the ends of my hammock in the WBBB style whipping. Also works for the whipped end hammock like the Speer?? and other "w" folded hammocks. Zing it could be used for this if you have some on hand versus buying a separate spool of mason twine. A little expensive for the task but you don't need much. This is assuming your suspension will larks head/cow hitch to the hammock below the gathered end.

If your're talking about using it where it is structural, i.e. in a channel with your suspension tied to it, I think it's too small and would cut through.

I would use something that holds knots better.

I have used zing it on several gathered end hammocks but you need to tie a good knot and leave a longer tail to prevent the knot from untying. Since the line in the channel is not structural I ussually use whatever I have handy; be it zing it, mason line, paracord, or small diameter utility cord. All work fine, its the gathered ball of fabric, not the cord that creates the stop for the larks head of the suspension.
