Does (Polyester Straps + Nacrobiners + Woopie Slings) = Fail?

I was reading in another thread how pinching amsteel reduces it strength and it scared me a little.

    Take a look at this:

It is 1 inch polyester strap connected to 1/8th inch amsteel nacrobiners connected to 1/8th inch amsteel woopie slings. My wife took the picture while I was in the hammock so it is under full load.

What do you guys think; does this setup look safe?

No worries there Mike, especially with 1/8" amsteel. Your setup is very well tested.

    Hang and sleep in peace.

The only time cordage and webbing are at full rated strength is when they're new, never used, and on the spool. If you use it, you will derate it. That's why we select products with ample safety margins. Inspect your suspension often, replace as needed, and you'll be fine.

Have to agree with what has already been said! With one addition, as long as the knot on the nacra and the buries on the whoopie's were all done right then no worries!

Absolutely. The knot on the nacrabiner is perfect, I've been tying it for years. As for the buries.... Well the locked brommel end has a one inch loop and six inch bury that is quadruple lock stitched on two axis. The adjustable bury is a 15 inch bury. I honestly don't know how long that one needs to be but it seems to not slide and just to be safe I lock it off with a slippery half-hitch.

'twas mostly the contact points I was worried about where the lines were pinching a bit.

Thanks to everyone for the boost to the confidence. I'll sleep better knowing you guys gave it the thumbs up!

You should be fine especially using the 1/8" Amsteel. Like Oldgringo says, always inspect for wear especially at the line to line and line to webbing areas.
