    3 day in VA

I'd like to plan a 3-day for june that would be my daughter'ss first multi-night. Just wondered if anyone had any recs for good trips. A loop would be nice but not necessary.

I would totally recommend the Rock Castle Gorge Trail in Floyd. It's a loop, challenging in places, can be an overnight loop or a sweet day trip!

Grayson Highlands State Park. BEAUTIFUL country and the "famous" wild ponies.

The Appalachian Trail runs through there and can be made into a loop with another trail. Name of it escapes me just now.

And of course the Shenandoah National Park has advantages, like lots of "waysides" to stop at and get food and blackberry shakes. YUMM.

well that sounds like two awesome suggestions. i had forgotten ALL about the rock castle gorge. havent been there in years. i stayed in the cabins there once. totally awesome place.
I hadn't heard about greyson before. i thought the wild ponies were the mount rogers area? Of course, if there's a chance of seeing ponies...and I'm taking my 13 y/o daughter...don't have much of a choice on that one! I'm gonna look that one up. thanks for the suggestions.

Shenandoah is very hammock friendly, just get a backcountry permit and hang anywhere you want.. If the weather is clear do the peaks, if rainy, do the waterfalls. Motorcycles kinda loud in June tho.
Tonight I'm howlin' at a foreign moon, might as well be a junkie's spoon.
