Since it's a HF gathering you gotta have the requisite pictures of fire and hammocks so I will meet the required quota here!

Didn't even need the underquilt and gladly slept under the stars with no tarp on Sat night!

Those are some great pictures WFR. You really captured the weekend.
I don't know how it could have been any better except to have had more people to enjoy it with.

No Man (or gear) Left Behind - the trip report continues

At first it seemed there were a few casualties due to this trip. The first MIA of this trip was Casey's (aka - Jason - but only to Muskrat) cell phone. My shovel and stove (aka - The Martha) were the next items to be lost to the island, but the most costly loss of the weekend was a Yeti Underquilt belonging to Muskrat (his name is not Jason)

Luckily the motto "Leave no man behind" applies to the Goat Island hang. Muskrat texted me later Sunday saying he had my shovel and my Martha and would let me know the next time he was in the Gwd area so I could take back possession of gear.

Casey gets a call from a guy and his kids the following weekend saying they "found his phone on the island could he meet them in Cross Hill to retrieve it?"

On the Saturday after the hang I get a frantic call from Muskrat. It seems he can't find his underquilt. He doesn't know what happened to it but would I mind going back out to the island to see if it there. I agree to go back out to the island because I am such a nice guy and I need an excuse to go for a paddle, but no dice - the underquilt is GONE!!!! I call Muskrat to let him know he is out of luck and it is time to start SAVING UP for a new quilt

Luckily the story doesn't end there. I got a text from Muskrat today. The quilt was hiding in the space under his seat in the Jeep. While this sounds initially tragic it gives a positive endorsement for the compressibility of the Yeti. "Would have never thought anything could have fit under, very small space, but there it was."

While we did not initially make it home with our gear, we left no one behind!
