DIY Bday hammock for my BIG bro.

I have 6 yards of 72" wide 1.9oz rip stop and I'm wanting to make it into a hammock for my little brother for a birthday present. Now my "little" brother is about 6'2" and 300lbs. So the problem is I don't know what kind of hammock to make him. I really want to try a HH clone like HeadChange4u's

Can I get some input from our bigger bodied members? What do you find to be more comfortable? A HH clone or a double layer gathered end? My brother has never laid in a Hammock before and I want him to love it.

and just a point of clarification; I have only ever laid in my ENO DN so I don't personally know how any other hammock lays.

I made my DIY 12' long and just did a rolled hem and then channels at each end for a gathered end. I used paracord to gather the ends. I bought my ripstop at Joann Fabric and I'm not even positive it's 1.9. I'm 6'2" and ~290lbs. It's held me just fine. The only other gathered end hammock I've ever been in is my Geno Doublenest.

Other threads have indications that people have weighed Joann's ripstop to 1.9... You might find that a single layer is too stretchy and is less comfortable than a double. Warbonnetoutdoors.com has a chart on hammock ratings. He rates a DL 1.7 at 400lbs, and a single at 250lbs, probably due to stretch.

I like HC4U's DIY HH instructions (I've made three - see my gallery). Just for a longer hammock, spread out the tie-outs further... (20"?) (I'm only 190lbs but I like the HH instructions, I also like the DIY WBBB, but it's more work. I don't think you can go wrong with the HH model, personally...

Does the HH clone count as an asym hammock?

Yes, the plans call for side-tie outs...

Technically, most of us lay asymmetrically in a hammock, tie-outs or no. HH's tie-out design just reinforces that and makes the hammock feel bigger. (Tie-outs also keep the bug net tight and off your face...)

Ok, i was thinking an Asym hammock was like this one DIY HAmmock with Footbox where the body is cut into a parallelogram.
