Or is that just the typical chromatic aberration on the fringes of the bright areas?

    Convert2010?

    Edit...Oh yeah...almost forgot...nice start on the tarp.

You, my friend, like a lot of men, might be a little colorblind. I can see red chalk on three edges plain as day.

    Over due update

After painting the tarp, I noticed the paint fumes were still present, so I left it strung up under my deck to air it out. I checked it today (after being hung for two weeks or so) and the fumes are gone, and it looks pretty good.

    Awsome pattern!

I'm new to the hammock approach and have been using a 8'X10' ground tarp for a make do tarp. I stumbled across this thread and the pattern for a 60" material. So out to the garage to dig up the tail end of the Tyvek house wrap and what do you know just about 18' left on the roll. About 45 min of cutting and taping and I'm in business with my first hammock tarp and it was a DIY none the less.

This is an excellent forum! Thanks hppyfngy for the and pattern. Here is a picture.

A very long flat felled seam and a lot of hemming later...

My tie outs are working so far...

And boy is this thing big!

Using just under 19' of fabric, the tarp turned out to be 13'9" x 8'10". Minimum of fabric possible for something this size I believe.

One nice thing about this design is you are seaming on the factory edge so you know it's straight. There doesn't seem to be any unusual stretching going on because of the bias hang. I need to fool around with it some but so far I think it's going to be great! Add some side pullouts for sure.

I'll report back after some more testing...
So do you still like your tarp? Any problems with the seam on the diagonal? I’m just about ready to order some fabric and ran in to your post….. Love the idea.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for asking! Yes, the tarp has been great. It's big and it's not really light, but I wanted big and I have smaller tarps if I need light.

The diagonal seam has been no problem whatsoever. If I make another one like it, I might put catenary cuts on it but it isn't necessary. It would help with the small amount of slack in it here and there, but it was never a problem in use.

    I'd say two thumbs up.
