    HexFly Quick Setup

So the other night I was setting up my hammock and the weather was supposed to be clear so I wasn't worried about rain or wind at all. On the other hand my wife the birder has made it quite a bad idea to leave my hammock with nothing over top to protect from early morning bombing raids.

I set my Hennessey Hexfly up above and parallel to my hammock ridgeline. Then I noticed those mitten hooks the tarp had, and so instead of tying out the guylines, I just left them in their little pouch and hooked opposite corners together. It made my hammock look somewhat cocoon-like, but it worked great. It would certainly stop rain, though I don't know how it would fair in a strong wind. I don't know if I'm brave enough to try.

Has this been tried before? Would it hold up? I wonder if it would actually be warmer given the fact that the tarp is in tighter and so less cold air flow.

Does the hammock not rub on the tarp? If so you might get some leak through at those points.

I dont believe you can touch it and bring the water through like a tent. id love to see some pictures of the setup if you can get a chance. I understand the concept but i dont have a hex to try out
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Should keep out the rain provided there is no wind. If it's windy, you need a taut pitch. COuld be a problem with the reduced volume and reduced air circulation leading to excessive condensation

Didn't rub from what I could see.

I didn't tie out the hammock sides and so the rubbing seemed negligible. I'll take a picture in a couple days.
