I have made a portable solution with two segmented aluminium poles and webbing. I think warbonnetguy has something comparable. Very portable and versatile but not exactly lightweight. For picture and a questionable drawing look here.

We did think about it....but Mac carried them back to NC with him.
What a awesome trip that was, the 2 nights we hung on the Travois was cool, never have I saw that many stars and wakeing up and watching the sunrise over the Chisos is something I will never forget.
