Pips, thanks. Unfortunately i have an aversion to camo pattern stuff. I noticed a few minutes ago at hancock they referring to fine weave Tulle so i guess there are different weaves. There is another fabric store in another town in my area so i'll give them a call. Maybe they have fine weave Tulle. Ah there's no rush. Bug season is long gone but it will be a winter project.

Me too! By the way, the organza I made my TED from is 55 inches wide. (DOH!) Organza (usually 100% polyester) is readily available at most fabric stores. At .9 oz. a square yard, it's lighter than noseeum. Best of luck!

I was looking for 60" cause i thought it was necessary but if 54" will do i have lots of options.

So glad you mentioned that, Pips, as I was looking at the no-see-um mesh from DIY Gear and that is 54" wide. Was wondering if it was wide enough for this project.

Thank you for posting this, Pips!

I was looking for hammock sock designs and found your video. Brilliant concept. I built a sock for my hammock based on this same design, out of DWR and a very thin, breathable nylon for cold weather use. Works great! I'll post some photos later once I take some.

Sounds great, BH! The concept was really Hangnout's. I just made mine two-sided. He has a fixed side and a stretchy ingress/egress side. I think it's a great design for a winter sock. Can't wait to see your pictures!

I really love this design but what is the experience of people who've been using them?

This doesn't look tick-proof to me. IME, once they sense you they'll bite as soon as they get a chance - but until then they maneuver into position by climbing and then dropping down from above. So, don't they just walk up the side of the netting and let themselves in?

steveflinn; I've been using this entire year, and no ticks as of yet. Hope that I don't ever .

My mother also, and no ticks.

I have had a daddy long leg drop down on me though, he was as unhappy as I was trying to get out of there.

Had my mini disco light going one night, turned it off only to find that the fireflies had found their way in and were doing quite a show themselves. That particular light really attracted them. My 14 year old laughed uncontrollably on that one. It took me an hour to get them all out of there. I no longer use that light

Been safe, so far from mosquitoes and other things.

Just bought 7 yards of 60" black tulle at Wal-Mart today for $8.89 and I have 6 feet of shock cord, cordage, and a cord lock left over from another project. Altogether it weighs 4.5 ounces. Think that I'll try this design with a slight modification for more room in the head and shoulders area.

    Thanks Pipsissewa and Hangnout!
