Thanks everyone for a great overnighter of hiking, hanging, gear talk, possums, campfire sitting, wine drinking, Warbonnet admiring and Hennessy mocking. Fantastic to see a bunch of hammocks strung up in one place like that - it's great to be a part of the hammocking sect. Special thanks to Lepmeister for bringing us together and for rescuing me from the no-coffee crisis, thereby averting a PLB activation.

Looking forward to doing it all again sometime!

How cold was it and what kind of UQ systems did everyone use.

Weather was quite reasonable, rain came in mid evening for a few hours from @ 7.30pm, nothing torrential by any means but it forced us away from the fire and under the tarps for a while. I, personally, don't own an UQ for my Hennessy. Instead I used a combination of a foam mat and a 3/4 self inflater onto which I climbed into a 2/3 season down bag and I was warm as toast.

Was good fun, had some laughs and met some good folk. Here's to the next one......

I recorded an overnight low of 5.8°C. Warm and comfy on my first night with the 3-season Yeti UQ. Oblique cut pad for the footbox also worked well, but need to get some better CCF pads that're not falling apart. Still too warm on top with the 4-season sleeping bag - TQ is on the wishlist.

Well, what a hike’n’hang – that is the most hammocks I’ve seen slung up in the one place with my own eyes. When we can find a weekend that gets all the Sydney hangers together it will be a big’n.

And what a set-up it was….. Brandon would have been proud with Blackbirds,
Edges and the Mamajamba all were making their presents felt. The DD will soon be replaced with a superfly that has now come off backorder and Smartee….. Well let’s just see what happens there!!!

Light started to fade and it was time to sent pigslayer on his way, who had joined in for the walk, set-up and gear talk sessions.

Food was a highlight; Master Chef came to the woods that night – some dam good eaten going on around that fire.

The rain came in as food was being finished, so it was off to the shelter it was. A few hours more and some more wine would have been ideal around the fire. I do like a shower during a hang just to put those tarps to work.

Some bleeding ears were experienced as the Native American flute was pulled out.

Midnight butt bumping…… ‘I say pardon?’ Those possums were sent out by Babelfish5 on a research mission to find the next big thing. I awoke to one of those little buggers right under me sniffing and digging around, with light in hand I unzipped the BB and was looking eye to eye at about a foots length. It looked at me as if to say…. “What’s the go here mate? You haven’t left anything out for me!” and then he was off to sniff out some of Batemans falafels… All he could find there was a pancake mix covered spatula, which was never to be seen again.

Early morning joggers spooked us first thing, and so started the chorus of “morning” as they run past. Feeling that is must be the thing to do a few of us got in on the act. Well for about 20 mtrs worth anyway.

With lighter packs the walk out was a quick one, one last hill to finish the morning off and there we stood – the end of another hike’n’hang a perspective elevated by hammockforus.net and we thank you.
