Nice job. I'll bet that when the tarp is close down to the ridgeline you will stay drier than you might think!

Sgt. Rock I do not know how to tell if it is coated or impregnated. My guess is coated. One side is shinier. I just felt the material in walmart and they don't even tell you what it is. It felt waterproof so I bought the whole roll. Eventually I tied some water in a bag of it and hung it overnight and none leaked and I thought, wow what a deal.
I did lower the tarp closer to the ridgeline and I'm sure it will give pretty good coverage. The ridgeline is 132 inches before the hems and the hammock ridgeline is 103, I think. That will give me over a foot on each end. The tarp is only 3 inches wide near the ends though. Next I will make another 11 x 10 that I can tie out with doors.

Sounds like coated. Sounds like you got a great deal on that.

    It looks great.

Thanks for all the compliments. It is forcast to rain tomorrow night so I might set it up close to the hammock and see how it does. I intend to use it when rain is not in the forcast but the forcasters are quite often wrong. Thanks to papasmurf, it was his instructions I followed to make it. I was thinking about a seven and a half foot square hung diagnal but using 60" material would have been several seams. There was a couple disccusions here about tarp size and the asym was reccomended. At the MAHHA I saw an early hennesy asym and it looked like it would do the job.

That looks like the perfect tarp for my son's hammock (he's 10).

What are the dimensions, or do you have a link to the instructions?

    Lowered the tarp. Better coverage.

Thanks for the inspiration. I was looking for the perfect small-tarp project...

Made this in about 2.5 hours... Cut it yesterday, sewed it today...

It's a little dusty from my work area, but nothing a good hose-test won't fix!
