1.2 mm DIY Tarp Guylines Whoopies

So I had some spare time tonight to play with some of the diy gear 1.2 mm tech line. I was able to splice it and then got to thinking about a easy way to adjust my guylines for my tarp. Then the light bulb went off and why not try whoopies. So there we go, it actually looks like it will work. Now all I have to do is wait on my HG cuben tarp to get here to test them out.

I had the same light go off a while back. Before I made them I asked around the forum, yeah .... Didn't really get great feedback as to others experiences. Try it out, I'd love to hear how it goes. People say they tend to hey really really tight . I just can't imagine they would get any tighter than suspension whoopies. Then again its a much smaller diameter rope so that maybe the difference. Looking forward to the results.

I used some lash-it and made whoopie style guy lines for my tarp...hung in my hammock for a week while I was in Georgia for spring break and they worked really great! Hitting the trail again this weekend and am looking forward to using them on a side note I created the locked brummell on the tarp pull out so it didn't need any knot or anything.

I'm watching this post, but I'm skeptical about whoopies on guylines. You need two hands to adjust the bury, so that means you have to tension with your teeth, or your third hand. Prusiks sound like the way to go, but I can be swayed.

I haven't actually tried whoopies on guylines, but I have tried it for tarp ridgeline and it sucked bigtime.

The easiest, simplest adjustment for guylines is....

    Move the stake.

Marlin hitch is the easiest way I've found. No hardware or adjusting to mess with.

I just talked to Adam and the tarp should be here in the next week to week in a half. Can't wait to try them out, hopefully they will work. I have been using line locs from Z packs and have had great success. Just wanted to tinker with something else. We'll see how they work.

Mini line locks (the ones for sale in the HFshop) work great on thin line and can be adjusted with one hand, even with gloves.

I've been using marlin spike hitch and "move the stake" technology. Dead simple. I've been thinking about a prusik, but whoopies just don't tickle my fancy for guylines. I tried them for tarp tensioning and they blew chunks. I would assume they wouldn't perform any better as guylines.
