Well I have been thinking about doing this mod for quite sometime now, and with the wife's help it is now a reality. Pretty much we made 2 small pouches and attached them in the middle of the tarp on the bottom seam. I cannibalized an old tent and used one if its fiberglass poles. It took a little tweaking but it was not too bad.
I ran a ridge line under the tarp and the pole simply ties off to a prusik knot on the ridgeline.
What it does for this tarp is eliminates the need for the pullouts in mild to moderate winds. If a big storm is rolling in you might have to tie them out. I believe in the conditions I tested it in that the pole did much better than the pullouts would have done. The space it adds around the hammock is incredible. Hopefully you can see it in the pictures.
I had heard of many people trying this, but not too many on the superfly. So here's the proof it can be done, and basically for free.
