    Hey guys...

Here's one possible loop, but, as always, am open to suggestions...

Day 1 - Smoke to Bonnechere - (Mile Marker 14.5 km - 14.5 km w/4 portages@1425km avg 356m) - Good day to stretch our limbs....
Day 2 - Bonnechere to Head - (Mile Marker 25.7 km - 11.2 km w/6 portages@2140 avg 357m) Light day to nurse our wounds and then chill...
Day 3a - Head to Smoke - (Mile Marker 39.7 km - 16 km w/5 portages@3140 avg 628m) Good Day to get some paddling in...
Day 3b - Head to Cache - (Mile Marker 31 km - 5.25 km w/1 portage@1640 and 20km car shuttle) Easy day to run home quick... (Have a backup car here anyway, just in case of a rainy day)

Incidentially, Algonquin's trout season ends Friday, Sept 30. If anyone really wants to fish, we'll have to move the trip up. Personally, I'm fine leaving the extra pounds of tackle at home for once.

Now that's a bit more challenging and definitely gets my vote! I say keep the date and skip the fish, with an average of 11km and 5 portages per day will you have the energy/time?

I'll vote to keep the dates since that is what I am working on taking off. The routes sound good. I really hope I can make it. I have to see [o]TTer's new baby in person.

I vote for this date and route! and 3b - with a 1640m portage on the last day - and coming up Cache Lake - if you have a head wind on that lake it can be a real nasty paddle...If memory serves me correctly.... the portage between harness and head is a pretty good challenge as well... I can also guarantee my back will be much much much lighter!

I had the XP10 out on Belwood Lake (top of the Grand) last Sunday for a 10km paddle... She performed beautifully on 1.5' swells in a strong headwind! I will be in my Kayak for this trip for sure.

I think being out of the Kayak will be a bit more pleasant once the bugs die down! I think I nearly got carried off on the portage into Bon Echo. I like the looks of the route. Now I have to decide Canoe or Kayak! If there are people out there looking for paddle partners make thy selves known.

That's a lot of paddling and portaging for a 3 day 2 night hang. Are there any routes from Smoke lake that would be more conducive to a base camp situation? I would think if we get a large group of people like the spring hang, getting that many people and canoes/kayaks organized and moving each morning would be an adventure to say the least. There is also the challenge of finding enough sites for the group that have enough suitable trees to hang that many hammocks. The site we had on Tom Thomson for the spring hang was great but the 2 hour paddle after the only portage was taxing to say the least.

    Cheers

    Brian

Hey Dan. I'm still not 100% but I'd like to paddle with you since I couldn't in the Spring. If you are going for sure and want to pair up with another who is 100% then that cool.
