Yep. I agree the freight sometimes really sucks but often it still works out cheaper than buying it locally.

I have been trying to buy a MSR Titan Kettle. From the UK I can get it delivered for around $90. From the US they would be $75 delivered however no online stores will ship MSR products outside the US. The cheapest I can find it locally is $105

Sure - thought you might mean whoopies. I've got a couple of things planned for the Zing-It so I'm not sure how much I'm going to have spare as yet. But there's a couple of lengths each about 2 and a half meters long with spliced loops on one end that I cut for ridge line ties but I think are too short . You can have them if you want.

I've got some lengths of green Theraband tubing too if you want it to make STLs.

We had the same problem when ordering a HH ultralight zip from the Hennessy store. Crazy prices on shipping!

I literally added an explorer zip and a super shelter to my cart on their site and walked way when I saw the shipping charges, and I live in the states. Then I ordered a WBBB and SF which cost more, but only charged me $11 shipping. It pisses me off when I know a company could ship something to me for a lot less and doesn't give me the option.

I have recently setup an account with bongous.com which is a mail forwarding company. You create an account with them and they give you a US address to use when ordering online. You can then choose to have the individual parcels sent to Australia or they can hold on to the parcels until you tell them to combine them into a single shipment. Their shipping charges are very reasonable and it also allows you take advantage of the online stores that offer free shipping to US addresses.

I ordered some gear recently from basecamp.com and to have it shipped directly to me was going to cost $38. Instead I chose to use the local free shipping from basecamp.com to the Bongous.com US address and then have it forwarded to me. Bongous only charged me $19. Not a bad saving if you ask me. The order also contained the MSR Titan Kettle that no-one has wanted to send me because of MSR's silly export rules.

Excellent idea Rikall. Think I'll do the same. Have you used the service yet and did the stuff arrive ok? Most of the high value hiking items I've purchased (Hammocks, Packs, Titanium Pots, Stoves) have all been sourced from the US. Let's just hope US retailers don't start adding premiums for items shipped to bongous.com.......
I likes me 'Ammocks & me Stowves'........

Even better... one bongous.com account with multiple locally based mates to share the cost and increase the frequency.
