    Hanger wannabe from the Philippines

I have been a ground dweller for many years, this definitely puts a whole new level of excitement for me in camping. Thanks to Shug's videos on hammocks now I'm selling my tents and ready to become a full fledged hanger. Glad to have found this forum!

Thanks Krugd, I wish there's a plug of some sort that you put behind your head like that of the Matrix movie and just upload all there is to know so that I can start hanging right away.

True. but half the fun is trying things out and seeing what combination works for you. If it gets to be too much, remember that many of us are tuning in our gear to make it a better fit. Pretty much any of the common set ups will get you into the woods.
Insulation below the hammock is the main new issue to deal with - don't know how much of an issue that is in the Philippines.

I was able to get a good sleep on top of one of highest mountain here with a just bivy sack, a ground pad a two-layer clothing and a balaclava. I think the main concern of campers here is staying dry. We have a very unpredictable weather, sudden downpours occur even on summer days here. The quick setup of hammock and finding a place to camp clearly has a big advantage over tent.
