    Noob hanger--first time

I'm up at my studio in NC (a little over 3 hours from my current house . . . it's a long story), and I've brought my Clark to sleep in.
I usually put an air-mattress in the bed of my pickup and sleep there.
But I always wake up with my back hurting or one arm asleep or whatever.
And since the Clark is a new toy . . . I had to try it out.

I've hung the Clark NA from the frame for my gantry hoist.

And I remembered my BigAgnes DualCore pad . . . but forgot my sleeping bag! I stopped at a discount place and bought a couple of cheapo, mistake blankets.

I'm still getting familiar with the various knots.
So it took me a little longer than I'd like to set up.

Anyway, the shop is about 50 degrees, but outside . . . it's doing this:

Sleeping in a truck, or in a hammock hmmmmm? That is a no brainer. Looks good, and as long as your warm, no worries. Have fun, and try new ways, thats how you know what works best.

    The hammock is quite comfortable.
I can't believe I waited so long. I guess I was mostly concerned about storing my motorcycle gear (cuz that's when I'm usually camping). But I can keep that stuff in the luggage on the bike.
I'm also still a little concerned about privacy. It's gonna be tougher to change clothes without giving a show in a public campground.

I only had a little problem last night when my dual-core pad had deflated a bit cuz of the dropping temperature.
Also wish I had remembered my sleeping bag; these cheapo blankets are just barely adequate.

Couple more pictures (not that you all haven't seen a million of these)

Anyway, these are my accomodations until Tuesday.
Trying to get this thing finished

It's a sculpture for the NC Arboretum.
I've gotta get it to paint on Wednesday, cuz the paint shop says they'll need 2 weeks.

I can see with the hammock that I'm going to want some small, easy to pack, easy to clean "welcome mat"

That Big Agnes Aircore looks like the ticket, do you have a Speer SPE for it?

The sculpture for the Arboretum looks awesome! I can't wait to see it on site. The Arboretum is less than 5 mins from my house. From one Clark owner to another congrats on your purchase!

No, I don't have a pad extender. I'm not sure I'll need one. The last couple of nights, I have noticed my shoulders start to get cold. But then I realize that I've pulled the blanket out from under my shoulders. I tuck it back in and feel fine. Granted, it's @ 50 degrees in my studio. Next time when I remember my sleeping bag, I'll see if I still notice any temp difference at my hips or shoulders. I'm a fairly large guy, so I thought it'd be a problem. But . . . maybe not.

Pisgahfan, my wife and I are trying to build a house up north of Mars Hill. We've run into all kinds of problems with contractors, so it's been delayed (for 2 years now!!). But my studio is already built on site. So . . . I come up here to work whenever I can. I'm thrilled to have phone and internet up here now. Makes being up here by myself a little less boring at night. Our place is right on the NC/TN state line. The AT runs within stone's throw of our property.
