Well, It looks like I will be relocating to the Burlington/Hebron area of KY at the end of June...who's out that way? Other than the Red and eastern KY, what are some other good places to go?

I live there. I used to go to the Red River or the Danial Boone.
Welcome to the area
Had to google the area. Never been there, but Versailles State Park (almost due west) in Indiana is very pretty. Did a MTB ride there this time last summer.

Welcome to the 'tuck. You've got some awesome area in the Cave Run Lake area, you can hit the Sheltowee Trail (Daniel Boones nickname, "Turtle"), backcountry camping is allowed within restrictions. Go to Blue Licks campground close to Harrison county, got some really nice tree areas. Down Harlan county way (East KY), got the Blanton Forest area, largest ancient stand forest in KY with plenty of bear and game, lets you practice good camping discipline (note the name of my hammock lol).
Closer to you, catch the Twin Eagles WMA.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

Thanks! It will be nice to be in KY again...spent some time at the US Armor Center at Ft. Knox. Looking forward to it!
If ya like to go where it is not as crowded go to Cave Run lake area. This time of year the gorge gets pretty crazy. Mammoth Cave has some nice backcountry sites as well, not too many people go there for the hiking . There is also Big South Fork in southern KY on the border of Tn.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to hitting some trails soon! It's hard leaving the Rockies, but it will be nice to be back near the Appalachians!

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
