Doors for tarp/advice on pack storage

Howdy folks. So I am enjoying my first summer hanging. Its been great thus far and so comfortable I think I have converted to hanging. One thing that has me weary, though, is what to do with my pack. Where do you folks put your pack? I am a bit weary leaving it under me, exposed for all to see.

One way of solving this problem I was thinking of purchasing doors for my tarp. I have a HH Explorer Asym, any advice on doors? Or what to do with the pack? Maybe toss up a line on a limb and hang my tarp above the hammock?

    Thanks!

    A few different options are:
    1. Bear Bag it
    2. Hang it on your suspension
    3. Use a gear hammock located either beside or under your hammmock
    4. Keep it in the hammock with you

Personally I like any of the first 3 depending on where I'm at and who I'm with, and I'm not really a fan of cuddling up with my bag, no matter how much I may dream of it.

+1 on that. Sometimes if the ground is a little soggy I but my pack on a piece of plastic I carry with me too.

Man keeping it on the ground sketches me out a bit. I feel like someone can just grab it. Maybe its the city person in me? IDK. thanks for the tips folks! I think hanging it on the ridge line is a great idea + Shug's idea of under a tarp.

Are you talking about out in the woods or in the middle of a crowded campground?

I use a pack leash (check out this video with Doctari to see what I'm talking about) and hang my bag on a nearby tree with a pack cover on.

Wouldn't be worried much about it if I was out in the woods, its more those trails such as the AT in and around New Jersey/New York that I have a few problems with. Crowded Campgrounds as well, like those family ones, which I don't go to often but every once in a while to get my city folk to go camping with me I bite the bullet and we go to those campgrounds (they don't like to backpack)

That leash looks pretty neat, thanks for the heads up!

I try to get my pack off the ground if I can. Frequently used campsites often have a squadron of mice and chipmunks waiting to attack. Sometimes I use a leash, too (with a large black dog on the end of it - he is aware of the mice/chipmunk menace).
