    Length of Whoopie Slings?

I bought two DNs at REI's sale and want to convert them over to Whoppie Slings. I have read every post here, I could have missed it, but I just can not find out what is the best length to make them. Any suggestions?

6ft whoopies and 6 ft straps are the average on here.

6ft whoopies will be long enough for just about every hang. If you need them longer, just extend them with continuous loops- Opie did a great pictoral guide on making them.

You'll need around 29ft of amsteel to make the 2x 6ft whoopies.

So, whoopie sling will be made from about 14.5 feet of amsteel. What's the MINIMUM length of that sling, then? And what size are people making their fixed eye loop?
(My amsteel blue arrived last week, and I'm starting my first set of whoops as well!).

The minimum is determined by how much bury is used on the splices. Ive used 6" for both splices (7/64 amsteel). I make sure that the whoopie is attached with a larkshead knot to the hammock end and that all excess splice is wound round the whipping so the minimimum hang distance is as short as possible and it gives a little more purchase on the whipping too. My fixed eyes are small, around an inch.

Doing it like this will make the minimum hang distance around 12-14" longer than the hung hammock length.
