Hopefully when you say "lower lot" you mean the one behind the gate that closes at 10 PM.
I imagine we will start our sign up list soon. If we get a lot of folks, parking could become an issue as that top part only has room for about 7 cars. I'm sure we will find a way to accommodate everyone one way or another even if we shuttle to the trailhead from some other area.

Well hopefully we can make this a good one. The only question is how many folks will show up.
I'd say the immediate campsite has room for up to 12 without much issue. Beyond that, there are plenty of places just below the main site and for those wanting more quite, the other side of the stream has several good spots nearby.

After doing more research and speaking with "James" while we were there, I don't know if I'll have time to do everything I'd like to do in just one weekend.
The blueberries on top will probably be ripe by then, the old Civil War grave sounds interesting, the vistas up top are noteworthy, waterfalls in the area and I just read a bit more about Sqibb Creek and the fishing there. Throw in some geocaching and just getting a chance to visit and you have a pretty full weekend.

Just a quick update. We have about 5 weeks to go till the Horse Creek hang July 15-17 2011. This is the list as it stands so far:

    [B]YES

    wisenber

    Roche

    [B]Maybe

    MedicineMan

    SteveToTheO

    AcesWild

    Running Feather

    photojag

    Hang um high

I hope I didnt miss anybody there. I've put everyone under "maybe" until you let me know I need to put you under "yes". As we get closer I'll need to try and get all of your projected arrival times. Its getting closer every day so grab your spot on the "YES" list now! Viva La Horse Creek!!!

Move me over to the "yes" and I may have a +2 compromised of infrequent backpackers.

I want to try my Tenkara out in the mornings, but I'd love to cross the creek into Sampson Mountain Wilderness to see some falls and find some blueberries and maybe see a bear or two.

Anyone know when they might be arriving? I'm hoping to head out that Friday morning.

Spamburglar and I were talking about carpooling, taking Friday off. Why not make a departure place and time, others can follow the breadcrumbs.

Have fun guys....I have spent many hours in and around Horse Creek since I grew up in Greeneville..some great memories of the Old Forge and the little plunge pool at the base of the falls there. It's just a little far from Charleston, and I already used one kitchen pass on my week long SNP hike in May....
