2nd attempt in DIY hammock a success

My neighbor asked if it was the counter weight for the hammock.

You don't really need the 2.8 Spyderline for your ridgeline, you could go down to 1.8 and be fine.

Thanks for info Patrick! I was wondering how low I could go on the ridgeline. DTE was kinda right.

If you use small diameter line to connect to your hammock,
you may want to wrap some material on the hammock to act
as padding between the hammock and line.
The smaller the line diameter the more stress on a small
area of the hammock. By adding a few fabric wraps under the
line, you spread the force over a larger area of the hammock.
Just a thought from the school of sudden drops.

On the subject of the side tie-outs, how (and how large) did you sew the loops (?) to the fabric to make them last?

I simply took the soft nylon cord that I whipped with and made it into a small loop big enough to get tieout cord through. I sewed the loop to a 1 x 1 inch square of my black webbing and then sewed the webbing to the hammock. (Before sewing webbing to the hammock I melted the cut edges of the webbing with a match to keep the edges from fraying.)

Did same thing to other side.

Figured that there would be less of a chance of the hammock material tearing if I did it this way. I don't know how others do it.
