I may have been editing the map when you were trying to open it, Try again. Yes, The water is pretty calm, shoals and shallow unless the water is high then it's still calm, shoals and deeper! It's class I, I haven't seen anything on that section I would consider a class II.
What type of boat do you paddle?

Don't own a boat now. Will probably try to borrow a canoe for my wife and I. Have paddled a lot over the years...everything from NR Gorge and Ocoee in my younger kayaking days...but she will injoy the calm water. Still working on the logistics of the trip, but may be able to attend. Lately have been thinking about a boat of some sort. Thanks!

They have canoe rentals all over the place if you can't find one to borrow. Hope you work it out, you two sound like the kind of people I'd like to meet and paddle with! I Love swapping old paddling stories around a campfire!

Kanguru - there is a low class 2 on this section that is fun, but not dangerous. Scenery is good - about a 4 hour paddle from start to finish. Lots of company on this section due to a campground that stretches for a long way along one side of the river. Check the water flow at the USGS South Fork of the New River site online (I don't know how to attach a website so you will have to search the internet).

Wish I could join you. I kayaked that section of the river (and more) last fall and liked the island site at New River State Park so much that I took a three day break there.

    Have a great trip!
