    Here vs There

I entertain myself (and pick up and share info) on three forums: HF and two that are boating-specific. One of the boating forums has a dedicated sub-forum where "heated" discussions are engaged. I occasionally get sucked into a thread on that forum, but I am trying to stay as far away as possible with the exception of taking a few good-natured pokes at some of the contributors. And sometimes I wonder how well I actually know some of the contributors who I have actually boated with and shared campfires with!

But HF is a gem. Here is a population of folks who, dare I say, become giddy children at the thought of sleeping in a hammock! It is almost as though we have stumbled upon one of Life's Great Secrets and we all know the Secret Handshake.

A breath of fresh air on this here InterWeb. Thanks be to the Moderators.

On HF, we outnumber the nay-sayers. They don't last long.

We HAVE stumbled on one of life's great secrets and it's awesome that we can all share it in this dignified and respectful forum. Two thumbs up to the mods for weeding out the negative for us!

I always wanted to know a secret handshake.

Truly a fantastic place to be. And the calibre of people who populate this site are incredible to say the least. It has been nothing but the greatest pleasure learning and interacting with HF members. I can only hope that the future holds more of the same.

Negativity seems to be the runner-up on here in most cases.
    Positivity is deemed the victor.
I read the neg stuff from time to time but just avoid typing in an in-appropriate response. Impulse control!

I enjoy it here as it always makes me want to backpack, hang in my hammock and goof off. I'm good at those activities.

This is a great thread. I sometimes get frustrated with the search function. Many times I use my search engine and just put site:hammockforums.net (put in anything here to search).

I hope that I am not treading on tired ground. Searching like this can be fun sometimes.

One of my classes last year was a "Cultural Diversity" class. We were assigned to write an essay on a subculture that fascinated us in this country. I picked Hammock Forums and the hammocking community. The camaraderie and support of each other, in hammocking and in personal lives, stood out. No matter what, everyone has a cheerleader, someone rooting them on, thousands of miles away, or twenty. It's a gem, indeed.

    I got an "A".
