I have watched the videos on how to make a whoopie sling. I would like to get the specs on how to measure out the rope. Thanks.

Here's a link to a previous thread that I think will help you:

That OP has an attached Excel spreadsheet that will calculate all of your measurements. All you need to do is fiddle around with the variables, i.e. rope diameter, desired length, etc. In that same thread there is a link to Samson Rope's website, where they have posted splicing instructions, including those for a whoopie sling. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the spreadsheet. Now I just need to understand how this works. It looks like the specs is for 7/64 rope and makes a 6' sling. Am I correct?
I changed the numbers in the spreadsheet to:
Fixed Eye Loop 4
Fixed Eye Bury 4.5
Constrictor 8
Adjustable Section 65
Tail Section 5
Rope required is 14
Min Length is 1.38
Max Length is 6.79
What do you guys think? Do these numbers look ok....length of the constrictor, bury, loop?
Thanks. Hope to make some this weekend.

I am no hammock aficionado yet, but my finished whoopies are the length you posted. Haven't need the full length yet, but it's there if I do need it.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error.
As far as using the spreadsheet, here's my two cents. I believe it opens up with a diameter of 7/64" (0.109375) in place. It also looks like it starts you out with a 4" fixed eye and up to a 60" adjustable loop, giving you a max length of 6.39'. So, if you are indeed using 7/64" amsteel, just leave the diameter entry (cell A2) as is.
Then you can decide on your fixed eye size (cell G6); IMO 4" is kind of large, I'd prefer to save the amsteel. But, it all depends on how you plan to use them. When I made mine, I went with a 1" fixed eye, and I was easily able to tie a larks head with it around my gathered end hammock. After that, the only other variable to enter is the length of your adjustable loop (cell M7). Depending on your fixed eye length, this will be somewhere around 60" to get your finished 6' max length.
The spreadsheet is designed to calculate your bury lengths, so do not adjust those within the program. When it comes time to make them, I just rounded the buries up to the nearest 1/10" so as to make the measuring process feasible. I would not recommend rounding the bury measurements down as these are integral to the strength of the sling.
It sounds like you have a good handle on the making and measuring processes. Have fun making them this weekend!

I will be converting my Hennessey Expedition, so I can change that from 4 to 1.
The more I try to figure this out,the more crossed eyed I get. Some people make their Fixed Eye Bury 8-10 inches and the constrictor 10-11 inches. This is for a Hennessey if that makes a difference.
Is there a reason why I should go with 8-10 or 10-11. If not, I will follow the spreadsheet and go with
Fixed Eye Loop 1.5"
Fixed Eye Bury 4.5"
Constrictor 8"
Adjustable 62"
Thanks for everyone's help.
My fixed eye buries are usually around 4 inches made with a locked brummel splice. I know they are not the recommended lengths but no problems so far.
