My gear usually ends up in a small pile. Sometimes I am more organized but not usually

I am still a "virgin" to this whole hammock camping thing, still waiting for my WBBB!!! I always stowed my gear in my tent.

Has anyone ever hung there pack like they would a bear bag? I may have to try that unless someone says it is not a good way to go.

I usually am kayaking/canoeing, so either it stays in the boat, or if I am a little ways off the stream, in a dry bag under the hammock. I usually lay a tarp down on the ground if I can. I have a mesh bag for flashlight/smokes/lighter that hangs on the ridgeline.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.

I've always just hung bag on a tree limb stump since there never seems to be a lack of broken off limbs within reach.

depends on the weather outlook, either hanging from a tree with pack cover on or cinched up tight in the pack cover under my tarp.

I will hang the pack from a tree. I use a rope and hook it to the top handle strap on the pack, wrap the rope around the trunk and hook it again to the top handle strap and then cover it with a trash bag. Works great.
If I am in a high critter area I hang it from a bear line with a trash bag covering it. Everything I need stays in a gear hammock that I also use to carry water and as a pack cover.
I am new to hammocking and still working on my tarp set up. I am in the process of saving up to buy or make a new tarp and that will change everything.
