    Hello - Noob from CT

    Hi all,

I do not yet have a camping hammock, but I am preparing to set myself up and give it a try. My hanging experiences so far have been limited to a backyard rope hammock, in which I regularly become comatose within 30 minutes.

Most of my camping is done while motorcycle traveling, so although weight isn't a big deal, bulk is. I "tried on" somebody's HH (can't recall the model) at a campout last summer for a few minutes, and have not been able to stop thinking about them. I like the idea of not worrying about clear ground, wet ground, and I like the versatility.

I am 6'2" and about 180lbs. , so I am looking at the HH Explorer or WBBB (although I am open to other suggestions from the cognoscenti).

Welcome to the HF from Canada! There are a few motorcyle riders here who could really give you a better idea of setups there using.

Hello and welcome! WBBB is by far the most popular hammock but there are other good ones as well. Popular tarps makers are OES and WB but again there are many others that are good as well. Have fun looking around.

I am getting a good deal on a barely used HH Expedition from someone on another forum. This hammock may be a bit small for me, but it will get me started and I can always trade up if needed, I guess.

I should be hanging within a week - let the learning curve begin!
