    Summer Sleeping Bag/TQ "on Sale"

Lafuma 800 40* bag at REI

I'm not much of a salesman but summer is rolling around and some folks may be in a similar boat as myself.

I have had this same bag for 2 seasons now and am outfitting my younger brothers for a weekend in the woods.

$38 and change for a bag that has taken me down to 35* in my ground dweller days (granted I was shivering, but with only a summer weight top and bottom and below the temp range of the bag, it was my own fault. I'd say 50 would be a comfort range for this bag as my testing over the last 2 seasons has illustrated).

For anyone that is looking for a huuuge bang for their summer buck - this bag is it.

(They occasionally have regulars in stock, they are usually around $50, but he is 6'1'' anyways so this actually is advantageous)

this was my very first bag when i started backpacking. i'd say you're comfy to about 50 in it. other than that it was a ncie bag. light, the zipper never jammed, roomy, and soft against my skin...

    How small does it compress?

I just ordered one to use as a summer TQ. For $38 w/ free shipping I couldn't DIY the equivilent TQ for that kind of cash...

This will be a little heavier than my IX TQ but it also won't be as prone to condensation - or so I hope.

Just got mine today. Hopefully the weather will hold out 2 weeks from now and stay above 50* so this will be sufficient for my brother.

Tendertoe, do you think this could be made into a TQ and work fine? The girlfriend could use something if she ever decides to come out. She won't camp in colder temps so this may be the ticket.

Yes. Rip and I used it with no mod at all last summer. If you wanna get fancy you can slice and dice or just unzip to the knees and use it just fine.

Awesome, I may have to get one. I'm trying to get fancy. Haha. I figure I could cut a qyarter of the weight out. Maybe 18oz or so. Who am I kidding, she does most the sewing anyway, haha.
