    Nylon vs polyproplene vs ?????

I am going to make some suspention from webbing and want to get someting that streaches less than nylon webbing, ity looks like polypro is better but is there any other options? Also how can I tell if the wal mart tie downs are ply pro or nylon or something else?

It is generally considered that polyester is better than polypro for suspensions. _However_ enough people use polypro (including me) that it really comes down to a personal choice. Polypro is usually cheaper than polyester webbing. But each material has its own set of quirks and strengths.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Other than cost what is the pros and cons of poly pro vs polyester? Does one streach les than the other? Weight, strength etc etc.

Here's a chart that makes some pretty good comparisons:

For the tree strap portion, 8 strand hollow braid polyprop rope from boating supply places and marinas will also work well. It flattens when wrapped around a tree to a bark-friendly 3/4" wide.

Creating secure eyes with locked brummels and bury ends is easy. You do that instead of sewing loops in straps.

Cost is $.20-$.45 ft, similar to the cost of strapping. Downside is that it is bulkier and heavier, @ 3oz per 4ft tree strap. Tensile strength > 2200lb. Easy to work and learn the basics of splicing with. Why not use lighter weight stuff? This distributes the load against the tree more broadly.
