I'd like to thank trailgear for the info on the survival tube. I ordered 2 green tubes and used one to make an underquilt today. I'm pleased with the results. My previous underquilt was an old, blue, down sleeping bag that weighed too much (about 4 lbs). The survival tube underquilt weighs just over 1 lb.

Tomorrow I'll use the 2nd tube to make an overquilt.

Hey folks, here is a US distributor. $32 each

    http://www.ps-med.com/blizzard/tube.html

Also check out the Blizzard Heat, I think it could be a functional underquilt. I'd rather use a tube myself though so I could vent it depending on weather.

They also have a survival bag that I could see being very functional as you could put a big button hole in the bottom, slip it over one end of the hammock, and suspend the open end at the shoulders and sleep away. It's $30

Bought one (us suplier) to try. May be great in winter over the ENO underquilt. If not , well into the emergency (bob) bag it goes.

I think it'd work well for ultralight hammocking for warmer weather (for me atleast I'm a cooold sleeper) in conjunction with a poncho tarp.

It's 2.35 m, so if you set it up over the foot end and cinch that end down so it's covered the other end can be loosely tied with your head exposed. Then rig your poncho tarp off set over your head end. Your feet will stick out but if it's waterproof right?

No need for a UQ, no need for dedicated rain gear, no need for a dedicated tarp, got to save some weight there.
