Agree with pizza. I have one I modded and it does add a noticeable warmth. I modded mine in a big way though. I wanted a lightweight summer top quilt, so I used some 1.1, sandwiched a layer of nylon batting between it and the Reactor and sewed them all together. Should work well for upper 60's and up for me, although still untested.

Hmmm I have some Climashield XP 2.5 that I could use instead of the nylon batting … Thanks crackedup, now I have yet another diy project on the list

I am going to start work on a 3/4 climashield xp 5 UQ soon, stoked to jump into that one.

just a warning about the REI bags...

don't believe the rating, not for a second. I had a 25-degree sub-kilo, and was absolutely freezing in it at 40+. they don't use the EN standards (which have 3 numbers, for female comfort, male comfort, and survival) at all was impression, but a friend recently told me that in fact they DO use the EN standards, they just don't tell you the one number they give is the "survival" number....would certainly be useful info.

I am new to the hammock as I just got a HH expedition and have yet to try it but to the point. I have the reactor thermalite and I use it with my elkhorn 0 degree bag and thermarest prolite4 on winter trips I have had it comfortably down to -15 inside a rei tempest 4season tent. I will say I have a hard time getting into the liner in a two man tent, so I am going to say i will be reluctant to use it in a hammock. Just alittle personal experience with the thermlite reactor goodluck.

I think REI just recently went to the EN standards. If you have an older bag, they might have had to up the fill between years to meet the standards.

I just looked, and you're right--some of their bags are now EN-listed. A big improvement!

I am new to hammock camping, but a friend I camp with regularly uses the liner and swears by it. He uses it in his hammock with a 20 degree down REI bag and has been down to 10 degrees and insisted he was cozy.
