    How long is too short?!

    Happy weekend all!

Looking at the whoopies and wanted to know what everyone's thoughts are on the correct length. I know, "your needs may vary" and all of that.

With that in mind, is it the case the x% of the time the 6fters are of sufficient length or should I consider the 8s or 10s?

    Thanx!

Common length seems to be 6ft Whoopies, with 6 ft Straps. I've found this to be a generous amount of hanging length in my area, but is nice to have extra length for those rare occasions that will require it.

There is also some adjustability in the webbing if you are using a Marlin Spike hitch so 10 foot whoopies are probably too long. If you have 10 feet slings on each end and they are at the maximum length, then your trees would be pretty far apart and you'd have to attach them to the trees fairly high to achieve a good suspension angle. Another issue with longer whoopie slings is the amount of tail on the slings if your trees are close together. It can get a bit unruly at times. I have found 6 feet give or take a foot is all the adjustability I've needed so far. Have a good day!

6-8 feet total finished length are by far the most popular.

Jester for what it's worth, 6 footers sell the best. I have put 6' slings on all my hammocks and and have never had a problem hanging in these parts.

So help me be clear on this. When you guys say 6 ft is this with the sling fully extended? Or, is this with the working end of the adjustable loop even with the end of the fixed loop. I'm new to the Whoopie sling and trying to undertstand what length I need to make. Thanks for the help.
