    Hi SC_Dave, whoopie slings are rated by their maximum working length on each end of the hammock. So a 6' whoopie sling will extend out up to 6' from the end of the hammock. The minimum working length is around 14-16".

    Thanks SB, that helps. This means that if I want 6ft slings I probably need to start with a length of amsteel about 8-9 ft long.

    13'. Double your anticipated finished length and add 1' for the fixed eye and buries.

    Six foot whoopies seem to be the best compromise in my opinion. Never had an issue with them...Bush
