    Guy line length

I'm wondering what the average length for guy lines is. I made mine about 2 feet. Now it occurs to me that They aren't long enough to use for porch mode. How long are yours?

6 ft on the corners, 12 ft on the panel pull-outs - I move the panel pull-out guy lines to the corners when in porch mode.

Mine are 10 feet long just so I have enough length to tie a truckers hitch in them.

Thanks for asking this question... My current setup is just short of 12' but over the last few weeks I have found that 5-6' is long enough for the configurations I usually setup in. I kept the extra length because I thought I might tie off to trees in some situations but that usually only happens when the trees are within 6' of my hammock and the 5-6' lines would work then too. I will be cutting my guylines in half tonight before I head south in the morning.

7' for corners, 12' for pull outs. Gonna add some 4-5 footers for doors when I pitch that config...

*** Edit - Forgot to add that I made mine with fixed loops on either end. If I have an odd pitch, I can just lark's head a spare onto an end and extend them. Easy to do in dark, rain, etc.

I found the closed loops to be super versatile. I made lines with closed loops on both ends (about 2m long) and fixed them to the tarp with a prussik. Simple, light and effective.

If I need a longer line, I have long tie-out lines stored "under the roof" (on the door tie-out rings of my Mamajamba). They also have closed loops on both ends and can be connected literally with a stick. To disconnect, just break the stick.

Oh and the closed loops can be nicely done whoopie style so they are nice and smooth.

Mine are about 12' long, and have always worked well. I use line locks on them and have never had a problem adjusting for any mode.
