    Heading to Summer Scout Camp

Well, I'm all packed up and ready to depart for a week of fun at the Boxwell Scout Reservation in Tennessee. What a grat thing to do for Father's Day! They allow you to hang a hammock there, so I'm looking forward to some good "air" time, and maybe even a good bit of fine-tuning on my setup.

I've also packed the supplies to make a simple whipped-end hammock. I hope to get the boys interested in making their own hammocks. Right now we only have a couple of hangers in the troop.

    See you in a week!

Great! Our troop went there last year, your gonna have a blast!
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I am heading of to summer camp with the scouts as well. We have 46 of our 60 scouts attending summer camp this week. The camp is expecting over 250 scouts. I am taking my hammock. I am not sure if they allow hanging, but I am also bringing my tent, just in case.

I, too, will be heading out for Summer Camp in a week... will be at Camp Rainey Mountain in NE GA. Will have 32 of my 45 Scouts! I am taking my Hammock for Siestas and tinkering with my setup... We have platform tents with cots so I will be in Camp each night.

Most of my troop is heading to DC this year for the Fourth of July celebration. They will stay there a week and do things like the Marine 8 and I Friday night parade and Smithsonian and Capital. I ended up not being able to go due to somehow majorly messing up my back. Instead, a couple of us troop leaders will be taking the remaining scouts to Summer Camp. I figure I can rest my back in my hammock for a week!! It seems that the hammock is the only place that my back doesn't hurt.

Best of luck to the rest of you'all heading to Summer Camp with a group of basicly new scouts.

We went to Tuckahoe 3 summers back.
Great thing is the pool, the boys are still walking around in dirty clothes, but their bodies have "clean dirt" from the chlorine, as my son put it!
We go to Raven Knob in 3 weeks, They allow hanging for boys and leaders.

I'm headed to camp Chawanakee, CA in about a week, and I too will be hanging... my hammock sure as hell beats the camp's aderondacks, what with their plywood beds! XD
Set fire to the night, for light is only made bright by darkness.

I was at Raven Knob a couple of months ago for OA Conclave. It was my first time going there. Very nice camp and yes I was using my BlackBird. Our camp site was on the back 40 (so to speak!!) and lordy I'd swear that it was up hill, both ways, to get to the dining hall!!!

We had herendous rain that weekend and just about everyone "except" the hammock hangers, had leaks in their tents.

    Have fun!!

I worked at CRK a few years ago, and in that back section, I think it is uphill both ways to the dining hall.

I also went to Boxwell. I love the waterfront there!
