The fabric has 2 sides, one for cold and one for hot weather. It squeezes down fairly small and lofts back up quickly and stays firm-ish... I wouldn't want a different pillow for camping (so far). I have a medium and it fits well in the shelf of my WBBB when I am lounging.

Jim, I have one of those as well and love it. I did not realize the two different sides though. I am glad you mentioned that. I will have to pay attention to that next time I am out.

have you tried not inflating the pillow all the way? i use the uninsulated ExPed inflatable but inflate it about 1/3 of the way, much more comfortable like that. plus it packs down to less than the size of my fist and weights about 3oz.

I have a small pillow that is basically stuffed with scrap climashield. It's about 10"x6" and works great for me.

One side is 1.1 ripstop, the other is fleece. I sewed a grosgrain loop into one corner and have a shock cord and mitten hook to tie it to my ridgeline.

Sometimes I carry it (great in cold weather) the rest of the time, I have a light windbreaker I stuff into it's sleeve for a pillow.

Paul at AHE has soo much scrap climashield about that he might sell you a small box full...

I made (diy) a medium sized microfleece lined drawstring silnlyon sack for my pillow. I turn it sil-side out when I'm travelling, so that it acts like very water resistant stuff sack. Then flip it inside out (filled with down vest or other clothing) for sleeping. Dual purpose and very comfy.

Ahhh, the never-ending quest for a comfy pillow!

I am a side sleepwe, and I find that NO pillow is not sufficient support.

The Thermarest foam chunk-filled compressable pillows are comfy to the touch, but even the smallest was too thick for my liking. I surgically removed about half the fill and that was sweet.

Unfortunately it went AWOL, so I picked up one of these at REI:

I have only one night with it under my noggin, but it seems to be just as good as the modified Thermarest.

Tis the season for swim wings. If your looking for an inflatable pillow, they don't get much better than these babys. Cut the back band off, under inflate them and they will cradle your head just right. Inexpensive, tough, and repairable with a drop of PVC cement.

...and there came to be a day, all too soon, that I became aware that I could travel no more on my long journey. Though I did not arrive where I had planned, I believe that here is exactly where I am supposed to be...

I tried this idea because it made a lot of sense to me, but the ones I bought were so smelly that I could not get past the plastic smell. Maybe the smell fades after a while?
