I prefer Zing It or even plain old Mason Line. Make you a survival bracelet out of the paracord, it's just too stretchy to use for anything on a regular basis.

20 Foot utility strap (1 inch loop at both ends, cut it in half) from strap works, 1 inch cinch buckle from on rope, a couple feet of amsteel and you're done. No sewing necessary. The paracord will be fine for guylines and a the tarp ridgeline. For the hammock's structural ridge line I used 7/64 amsteel. This is Grizz's primer on webbing suspension. Materials links at the end.
