Thumbs up Scotty ain't got nothin' on me...

Cause Captain! We've got the POWER!

Since Tuesday afternoon my entire neighborhood has been without power because of storms in the area. The power JUST came back on about an hour ago. After dumping about 300 dollars worth of food from the fridge/freezer and spending waaaay too much to eat out.... I'm relieved to be hanging in my Black Bird right now!! I was considering just camping in the back yard... but severe thunderstorms and the fact that I can't build a bon fire within the city limits have hindered my ventures. Aaaaaanyways... it just feels nice to have hot water, air conditioning, and HD TV! (when you want it!)

On another note... I'm in the process of getting a custom tarp made for my Black Bird. So far I've decided on an Hex cat cut tarp, 11foot ridge line (going to use continuous ridge line kit from whoopie slings most likely), probably 8 feet wide, 1 inch black grosgrain edging (including ridge line), grosgrain loops all the way around for tie outs. Still debating between SilNylon or SpinnUL. Really liking the fact that SpinnUL pitches tighter and weighs less. Any suggestions / constructive criticism would be helpful!

P.S. What did I miss the past few days?!

Welcome back from your forced hiatus. What's new...hmm...well we are talking about hammocks and various other things like suspension and stoves and tarps. You know, the usual.

There has been an increasing interest in Cuben tarps. They are pricey but if you have the means, then check them out. Hammockgear.com, and Mountainfitter.com are a couple out there. Shug did a review of a cuben tarp as well.

Funny how we all wish for days in the middle of the woods with only our little camp stoves and knives. Then God gives us the chance to enjoy it right in our own back yard and we consider it inconvenient.

I wish I could afford Cuben Fiber... but that's just too expensive for me. What are these "stoves" you speak of?.. Do they involve food?.. I love food...

Yeah a generator wouldn't be a bad idea.... If the local stores weren't already sold out of them!

Don't get me wrong, I wanted to live in the back yard for a couple of days. But Having to work everyday combined with raging thunderstorms kind of change your perspective. Plus I wouldn't exactly be "away from it all" like I enjoy so much in the woods.

Had my trusty dusty head lamp!

Oh silly Shug, I've already watched it 3 times... Whooo Buddy!

Although another juggling (of random gear items) and outtakes video would be fun!

For my continuous ridgeline I decided to replace my whoopie slings line with a line, dutch flyz and dutch hook. Saved a little bit of weight (and with my Cuben tarp, I was getting a little crazy seeing how light I could make it. Worked really well when I went out with it, but I did stick to my whoopie line for my SuperFly since it is a little heavier and it seemed stronger.

Anyway, just something to think about

That ditch hook and flyz look pretty nifty! Thanks for the heads up!
