thats what I use now,after an aluminum toggle scared my hammock.Now I just cut two 1/2 sticks and never had a problem with them..

I still don't know why more people don't use a carabiner (the long side used for the marlins pike) as they are both very light, easy to store, will not crush as a hollow shaft could, have other uses, and can serve for hanging stuff off of (i.e. boots or poles).

A warning to use them in the right way as shown here or you'll be on the ground (unless you use Dutch Clips the old way).

Oh yeah, in some set-ups you can then hook your tarp RL in as well to reduce possible lateral movement.

i realize this is an older thread but i was wondering about this myself and I am glad to hear this works!

I was also wondering if you have inserts in the ends of the carbon fiber shafts? It would most likely add some structural integrity to the shaft, though adding a little weight.

Just make sure the webbing is spread evenly across the carbon toggle. Some of the new carbon arrows are very thin wall and will collapse if the compression is concentrated in a small area.

Excellent advice. Make sure there are not any nicks in them as well as that can lead to a premature failure.

Used to have Carbon Fiber arrow chunks. Busted in the middle. Found an old fiberglass tent pole, cut it up and no more worries. Weighs a bit more but it wont break. Also, avoid camo or black! Dropping them makes for an eventful time trying to find them again. My tent pole segments are yellow and black checkerboard. Much easier to find!

When using sawn carbon arrows, remember to bring tweezers. Carbon splinters are awful.
