I have a huge roll of marvelseal 470

I know its an aluminized polyethylene and polypropylene barrier film that is easily heat sealed. I have a Mil-B-131. 36" (3 ft) X 200 yard roll.
The question is - what can I use it for? There has to be some neat thing I can use it for. Anything hammock related? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pardon me if this is posted in the wrong section. Mods, please move it to the appropriate place if you need to.

    Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this material at all. But if it's not rigid and doesn't feel metalic, it could possibly be used as an undercover to radiate heat. Might give a few degrees worth of warmth.

Ok so just read up on this, seams like it's primary use is for MRE packaging and it's a vapor barrier. I'd guess the best thing to use it for is either for vacuum bagging trail foods, or if the weight is low enough sell it off to some extreme ultralight backpackers to use to make clothing out of. Personally I'm not a fan of sweating in my clothing, but some of those people don't seem to mind if it means they can leave the 12oz parka at home during a Polar expedition in middle of January.

Thanks, Catavarie. After searching the web, I pretty much decided its not good for much else. I was hoping to find some use for it. The roll didn't cost anything, so I didn't lose anything.

So, can you heat seal the edges with a regular vacuum sealer? If so I might be interested in a chunk to play with. With the reflective properties this might make some nice pouches or cozies.

Zukiguy - I don't know what type of sealer is needed yet. All I know is it takes 350 degrees to seal it. I'll put up a picture or 2 today. If you want some, just pay postage and I'll send you some. Please stay tuned - I have to go to lowes for 2x4's for a hammock stand

Thanks gmcttr - I knew there was some use for this stuff. Goundsheets!

Could I get a couple of yards from you? I have some ideas... one is to use it as a sweat barrier on a sporran.

HF is slow here... not sure why. It appears that my PMs did not post. USPS address is on my web site. 3 yds is fine. Thanks!
