    Moab - river hanging

I'll be rafting the Colorado river near Moab with scouts in mid July around the Fisher Towers area of the river. Anyone familiar with the area know if I'll be able to hang there?

I was at Entrada this time last year. There are not very many options in that part of the state. You might have to use a vehicle as one side to hang from. The campsite we were in only had one tree and a couple bushes to go along with the SAND... The spots that did have trees usually had them too far apart for hanging. Best of luck on getting a campsite with shade.

Side note: Repelling from a 100' arch was the highlight of the trip and I highly recommend getting one of the guides to take you on the mountaineering trips.

No good hammock tree along the Co river near Moab.
June/July is my favorite time on the Co and Green I go there often.

The bushes are full of mosquito's. Best camping is on the sandy banks as far from the brush as possible.

You'll have a great time even if you have to use a tent just don't forget your 3" air mattress, & tarp for shade.

Thanks for the advice. I contacted the guide service and they said we'll be camping at Hittle Bottom and Big Bend, both BLM campgrounds. Sounds like the hammock will have to sit this trip out.

there's hanging right on the river very close to moab.

from the main intersection just outside of town (the one where the co river crosses under the hyw) drive downstream on the moab side of the river. there's a patch of trees on your right (river side) it's just free pull-in car camping. could get several cars in there. lots of small trees. driving upstream from the main intersetion on the same side of the river takes you to a spring. neither is very far up or down river from the intersection

Good to know! I may have to bring the hammock just in case I find decent trees. We'll have cars caravanning gear so weight wont be an issue.
