help me find a place to spend JULY 4?

I have a funny situation. Due to a minor injury I can't really hike but I still want to get outside.

Can you think of a place to "Car camp" any where in the south that is worth seeing?

I don't have a lot of experience with this and would appreciate any suggestions in

    Pick me a good one!

    thanks!

Most places are packed on July 4th. What about Balsam Mountain campground, off the Blue Ridge Parkway? Maybe it won't be too crowded.

Sorry to hear that you're injured. Hopefully you will be up and at it again soon.

You can car camp down at Fontana Dam, and the drive through there is awesome.

Why not take a trip to the Gorge, The Big Ditch, the Linville Gorge that is! I'm sure you could coheres some of the Rat's into joining you if you wanted some company!

nantahala river in NC is a good place to hang out on the fourth. sit on the rocks at nantahala falls and watch people fall out of their rafts the water is 42 degrees which makes it very comfortable hanging out in the july heat. camp 1/4 mile up the road at LOST MINE campground. it's quite there and well run. 20 miles west of Bryson City. lots of other stuff do do up there too.
