Be gentle good folks, olddog's learning new tricks, first post with attachments. Aquired a used lawn swing frame, bad cushions and a little rust. Removed the swing and cut the top rail in half. Removed 2 rails from the swing assembly which were the same size as the top rail, 1"x2". Inserted a hardwood 1x2(3/4" x 1 1/2")x10' into the top rail. Then sandwiched the toprail with insert between the 2 rails removed from the swing. Drilled and bolted thru the 3 rails, 2 bolts at each lapped end and 1 on the center. Two nights hanging inside and no problems. I thought it would be the fall before I could hang again but this will work. A little paint and it will be complete. The best part, total cost $3.05 for 5 bolts plus the cost of a can of paint.
