    New indoor hang

I'm going to reposition my indoor hanging mounts since we moved some furniture in our downstairs family room. My new mounting points are going to be across and exterior wall corner.

Since this is in a basement room those walls are concrete block. There are furring strips attached to the block, then the drywall nailed to those.

I haven't actually seen behind the walls to know what dimension material the furring strips are. My guess is 2x4s turned on the flat edge. but they could also be as thin as 1".

In any case I'm going to drill through the furring strip and into the concrete.

I'll run a tapcon into the block. since i have all the tools i need for that.

here is my problem. there are no tapcon (masonry screws) availible that have a hook or an eye. just the bolt head.

So what i need to do is figure out what exactly i can screw to the wall to act as the attachment to the suspension system.

    thoughts? recommendations?

bennylt, I think you need to investigate the actual depth of the studs and maybe look at other concrete mounts. Someone, somewhere must make masonry hardware with a hook or something.

that's why you use extra long tapcon's to go through the stud into the masonry.

I was thinking he could mount these to the wall with the Tapcon concrete anchors.

And the 3500# may be overkill, but that is what I had already.

Those would work. and not too ugly that my wife will flip out. she just ignores the heavy duty eye bolts on the stud walls now. Yes I'll only be bolting through the nailer board and into the concrete with a long hex head tapcon. The pull out strength of the one i have now is like 1,200Lbs. and I'll probably use two.

I have to be sure to hit the nailer board too, otherwise there will be a layer of Styrofoam insulation and a layer of drywall between where the bolt is imbedded, and the anchor point, which i'm sure will end up cracking and whatnot as the bolt flexes with no support.

OK i'll look for something like that.

I was hoping for something slightly more attractive or removable or something. But That may not work out in my situation.

Remember those d-rings are working load rated, not breaking strength. I use the 400lb version with no problems.

These are small, strong, and easy on the eyes.
