    Hello Everyone

Well, I decided to be a hanger after a long time considering it. I have been lurking in these forums reading your posts and learning for a long time now.

SO, here I am. I hope to make friends with all you fine people. (PS. Shug, your videos have taught me so much, and I think you are hilarious)

A little about me, I am a 20 year old father (of a wonderful daughter) and husband to an amazingly tolerant wife. I am from Nebraska. I attended college for Mechanical Drafting and Design, but due to the economy, I am working in my home town at the local factory, in the trash room. I also work for an autobody shop here in town. And for the sake of any hammock related questions: I am 6'3" and around 210 pounds.

I am an avid camper, hiker, geocacher, kayaker, video gamer, and many many many other things.

I look foreward to many good times with you fine people.

Also, to get the ball rolling:

I am thinking of buying my first hammock and thinking I will get a GT. What are the community's thoughts?

Welcome to HF! GT hammocks are good place to start if you have limited budget IMO. I have a GT skeeter beeeter that I like a lot (with a few mods of course). The GTSB only cost me about $40 new, so it was great starter rig. There is a lot of good diy info here too and good people willing to help ya get hangin.

Thank you guys so much for the warm welcome!

Also, after reading a bit more today after I got off work, I decided a Clark Jungle Hammock would be a better fit for me. Tell me what you think?

I think whatever you choose, you'll like, if it's a hammock. But you might consider a less expensive option to start; especially if you want to keep your wife tolerant.

A Hennessy with a side zipper would be less costly and accommodate your height in the right model, as would a Warbonnet. I wanted a Clark at first too. Watch some Clark videos and some Shug videos...

Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

    Welcome from central Florida!
I bet if you keep an eye on the for sale threads here you can find a good deal on the equipment you might need.
My wonderful daughter is starting college in the Fall so I'm here to tell you: don't ever pass up a chance to take that little girl out with you. It's cliche' but it's true, she'll be grown before you even realize it happened.
(And her mom will love you for giving her a break. )
