I have a golden retriever, named Lula. She sleeps on my old pad that I used before I got an underquilt. its a thurmarest 3/4 sized air pad. she seems to like it. I usually bring a fleece blanket I can throw over her if it gets cold. I tie her up to my ridge line if something happens in the night she might rock me a bit to let me know whats up. And I shorten the Line if I use a tarp so she cant disturb my guylines. It keeps her warm and dry in the rain. I rarely use a tarp, (lots of clear skies around here), so I just keep her line short enough not to tangle up in the trees around me. By the way, a whoopie sling is great for an adjustable dog line, works like a charm.
Because you fall through the clouds if you try to lay on them, so the next best thing is a hammock.

I love my dogs and I try to find a way to bring them whenever I can.

Some people have foot lines on their hammocks for relaxing in a sitting position. When not in use, it just hangs loosely under the hammock. Has anyone ever attached their dogs on a short leash to this type of guide-line? The dog could walk back and forth under the hammock without having the range to get tangled in the guy-lines.

I haven't tried any of this with my dogs of course. I am pretty sure the older one is afraid of the dark. She will bark at every little thing (real or imagined). Barking is not conducive to my favorite hammocking activity...sleep.

I practiced a lot in the backyard before going for a backpacking over nighter with Kiba. I just tied her up to a one of the trees I was hanging from and whenever she get skiddish and wanted to jump out of the hammock, I would let her.

Now, she has no fear out in the woods and we have done plenty of trail nights out. Take in mind though, I started my backyard hangs with her when she was only 4 months old. So, it may be more difficult to teach an older dog.
